Today, before blowing a gasket over a politician’s preposterousness, take a moment to pray that God fills our leaders with truth, knowledge, and humbleness.
DAILY DEVOTIONAL: Pray For Politicians. Please.

 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be 

made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful 

and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.1 Timothy 2:1-2

Yes, this applies to you. And me.
Praying for Nigeria leaders, even when we adamantly disagree with them, might not come naturally, but God has commanded that we do it.

 In our Nation, there are many loud voices. Oftentimes we find ourselves shouting back at political talking heads. Yes, I know, I know. Believe me, I hear the shouts. And, believe me, I want to do the shouting!

 Take this verse as a gentle reminder or an unquestionable mandate for all of us, myself included, to pray for those in authority. When we do, our hearts grow tender and we become more effective. We still might disagree, but the Holy Spirit can infuse compassion for leaders and build bridges where walls have long stood.
