10 Things to Consider When a Christian is Dating.

Image
You are dating an incredibly good-looking guy. You both feel the attraction building up. What do you do? Now is not the time to decide! It’s too difficult to think when passion overtakes you. You must decide before you go on the date what your limits will be. 1) Do not be unequally yoked. Take 2 Cor. 6:14 seriously. Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? (NLT) If you are dating someone who doesn’t have a personal relationship with Christ, you are playing with fire. If you fall in love, what will you do? Don’t let the relationship progress to a physical point and then hope you can cut it off later. 2) Put on the armour of God daily. You need all the help you can get in today’s world. Are you spending time with God? Do you depend on Him to meet your needs of love and security? You can resist temptation if you put on the whole armour of God ( Eph. 6:10-20 ). 3) Put obedience...

The Times When you Should Avoid Saying Too Much.

Image
There are those who subscribe to school of thought that says, ‘Just speak your mind’. I once subscribed to this school of thought until a man I was dating said to me ‘It depends on what is on your mind’. At first, I was angry at his response for I thought that not to speak my mind was to be dishonest. After saying this to him, he replied with the words, ‘Sometimes we can be honestly wrong’. Then he went to ask me this question: Would you want everyone to know everything you have ever thought? Then he said, ‘I don’t know about you but I don’t always need to think; there are those times thoughts just pop into my head’. As I thought about it, I realized he was right. To think requires that we have some data, ponder it, examine it and then coming up with a conclusion. Thoughts do not require such intricacies. I realized that just because I have thoughts does not mean I am thinking. I thought of the many times I have shared my thoughts without thinking and realized that giving mysel...

Are You Falling in Love? How can You Tell?

Image
Are you falling in love? How can you tell? There’s no question that the early stages of a relationship can be confusing. You might puzzle over your own feelings, and wonder what the person you’re dating really thinks of you. Your own emotions may be difficult to fully decipher, and trying to categorize them as falling in love or as just a passing attraction can be tricky. Is what you're feeling the real thing, or are you just prone to feeling this way and need to be careful moving forward? Drawing on recent research (focused on heterosexual relationships), here are some questions to help you sort it out: Are you suddenly doing new things? As people fall in love, they often branch out beyond their normal range of activities and try those that their partners favor. You might find yourself trying new foods, watching new shows, or attempting new activities like running, fishing, or gambling. People who fall in love tend to report growth in the content and diversity of their own sel...

All about Relationships

Image
All About Relationships Love is one of the most profound emotions known to human beings. There are many kinds of love, but most people seek its expression in a romantic relationship with a compatible partner. For some, romantic relationships are the most meaningful element of life, providing a source of deep fulfilment. The ability to have a healthy, loving relationship is not innate. A great deal of evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship begins in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Those relationships are not destiny, but they appear to establish patterns of relating to others. Failed relationships happen for many reasons, and the failure of a relationship is often a source of great psychological anguish. Most of us have to work consciously to master the skills necessary to make them flourish. Culled from psychology t...
